We know it's still cold out there and as usual the groundhogs did not agree about the end of
winter but that isn't stopping us from focusing on spring! After all, it will be here eventually... even in Saskatchewan.
Art for a Cause this session will be supporting Autism Services of Saskatoon. It's quite possible that you have never heard of this charitable organization unless you know someone on the autism spectrum.
"It was a place that we had no idea existed until we needed it. For our family, Autism Services has provided in home help with behavioral and learning challenges as well as mental support for us as parents in simply reassuring us that we aren't failing our children. They have been an import resource for helping with our sons." - Robin Renneberg
This charity, like many, is strained for funding. In Saskatchewan it can be difficult to find help for children with autism unless you have some form of personal health plan and even then, many of them don't cover the costs. It can be incredibly expensive to obtain the therapies that some with ASD benefit from and often parents are left with nothing but to hope that the school system will be able to provide at least some help. We are fortunate in this province to have a service like Autism Services to turn to and the staff that keep it running are certainly a special group of people.
As with all our Art for a Cause kits, $3.00 from every kit will be donated to this charity. If you aren't interested in the art kits, you can always donate directly through their website. Autism Services of Saskatoon also holds a Gatsby Night for Autism on the last Friday of April to help raise fund for the programs they provide.
Stop in at the gallery to pick up your spring themed art kit today! And don't forget to return your painting by March 28th to be part of the spring voting and possibly win a $10.00 gift card for the gallery.
See you soon at The Garage Gallery!
