First off, we would like to thank Bev and Leroy Renneberg for all their help in these last few days. They have been out working at the building with Randy and their help has been invaluable.
Next, I would like to thank Randy for his tireless work towards bringing this plan into a reality. I’m not actually at the building doing any physical labor at this point and there is no way that any of this could happen without him.
We took possession of our new building on November 30th and quickly went about a last minute Christmas Pop Up featuring our 2018 artists in our new space. The pop up was a success, but the time spent waiting certainly left us eager to get on with our renovations. The pop up closed on December 8th and work began on the building on December 9th.
We’re using the term, renovations, loosely here. In the end, any physical changes to the building itself are only cosmetic. The first order of business had been to scrape the popcorn off the ceiling. This was done on the first day leaving the slightly textured surface that we were hoping for. A couple minor repairs will be needed before primer and paint can be applied but those steps come later.
Currently, the old linoleum flooring is being removed. This is a more difficult process than the popcorn was and is taking a few days but there has been progress and this step should be completed by the end of the day. There have been a couple repairs done to the exposed concrete floor already and any others will be done before the floor is primed and painted.
Work will continue on in the coming weeks and we are on schedule to officially open our doors in our new space on January 23rd, 2019!
